For the first time, Nazrul Islam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the Russian Federation, visited the Rostselmash's production sites. The purpose of the visit was to explore the company's production capabilities and negotiate potential cooperation with Bangladesh's agricultural sector — for which modernization is a key matter of national security.
During the program, the Ambassador learned about the company's history, toured its in-house transmission production facility, the main assembly line for grain harvesters, and the modern full-cycle tractor plant. The guest was shown the company's capabilities to produce high-tech machinery capable of fundamentally transforming the country's agricultural sector.
During the presentation, Rostselmash representatives outlined three fundamental aspects of potential cooperation. First, the company manufactures a wide range of agricultural machinery. Second, these machines represent high-tech solutions— one combine can replace up to 400 manual laborers. Third, Rostselmash offers not just supplies, but full-scale partnership.
"We don't just sell agricultural machinery — we offer full-scale cooperation," emphasized Anton Malykhin, Director of Export Sales Department. "In addition to machinery supplies, we provide technology transfer, personnel training programs, and full service support for the fleet."
Islam Nazrul highly appreciated the scale and level of technological development of the Russian enterprise. "The scale of company's operation is truly striking. I saw with my own eyes how modern machinery is manufactured and its high level of innovation. Although Bangladesh's agricultural areas more often require small vehicles, Rostselmash machinery would certainly be of interest to the country's farming business," the Ambassador stated. He added that agricultural development is a top priority, as it is the country's primary resource. "If we had such high-performance machinery, it would help to expand our capabilities," the diplomat added.
Commenting on the cooperation potential, Anton Malykhin noted the specific features of the local market: "There is a demand for machinery, and there is also an understanding of exactly what is needed. But at the same time, they require the development of the entire agricultural technology chain. To modernize and increase their labor productivity, the entire crop production cycle needs to be reviewed."
Agriculture remains the foundation of Bangladesh's economy, accounting for 19.7% of GDP and employing 63% of the working-age population. The country is a global leader in rice production (3rd place worldwide). Rice, cultivated on the plains, is the main consumer and agricultural crop, which — due to fertile soils and developed irrigation — can be harvested up to three times a year.
However, population growth, land degradation, climate risks, and technological gaps have led to wheat imports and a growing urgency for modernization. Therefore, the context for potential cooperation is extremely important — Rostselmash's advanced technologies and comprehensive business model open up real prospects for the development of Bangladesh's agricultural sector.
